Punteggio 94/100 · The Wine Advocate, Apr 2012

The 2009 Echezeaux comes across as tightly wound, a sign that bodes very well for the future. The wine begins to grow in the glass as the fruit gains volume and pure textural richness. Firm tannins frame an intense, powerful finish laced with tar, licorice, sweet spices and smoke. The Echezeaux’s best days lie many years from today. Readers who can wait will not be disappointed. Bright dark red. Lively, deep aromas of dark berries, cherry and blood orange. Broad, vibrant and harmonious, with superb sappiness and mineral tension to the red fruit and floral flavors. Most impressive today on the extremely long, ethereal finish, with leaves the palate coated in mineral dust. In sheer energy, this really transcends the vintage.

Showing quite nice development already, dry and expressive savoury notes, medicine, hints of earth and iodine. (RH)
