Note di degustazione
I retasted this wine in the United States after bottling (I originally rated it a 92-94 out of barrel in Issue # 111). This dark-ruby-colored wine is a behemoth! Its brooding aromas of blackberries, tar, mocha, and roasted oak is followed by a full-bodied, super-structured, foursquare, yet velvety-textured character. This immensely concentrated and well-balanced wine is filled with lively cassis, blackberries, brambleberries, and stone-like flavors. Those readers lucky enough to have purchased a few bottles, and patient enough to allow them to soften out with cellaring, are in for a treat. Drink it between 2006 and 2015. Saturated ruby-red. Brilliant nose of black fruits, licorice and shoe polish, with complicating floral and spice elements. Silky and palate-caressing, and strong in extract; lovely intensity without excess weight. Intriguing iodiney terroir note. Oaky, slow-to-build finish leaves a residue of berry and mineral traces. A great example of the vintage.
