Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Les Ormes de Pez offers blackberry, briary and tobacco on the nose, classic in style with a touch of wild mint. The palate is medium-bodied with pastille-like black fruit on the entry laced with tobacco and sea salt, although the finish is missing some tension and feels, for want of a better word, stolid. Maybe this was showing better three or four years ago? Tasted February 2017.
Dark core and bricky rim. Lovely dark savoury spice on the nose – very inviting. Disappointing on the palate – lacks energy and is slightly tough on the finish. (JH)
Mid ruby. Warm and welcoming with a hint of mint. Correct. Pretty much fills the palate though overall it’s a tad skinny. (JR)

The Cazes family – owners of Lynch-Bages – added this Saint-Estèphe Cru Bourgeois estate to their portfolio in 1940, just one year after they purchased Lynch-Bages. The property comprises 32 hectares of vines in the north of the appellation, close to the village of Pez.
