Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2024-2033, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Nov 2023

Tobacco, spiced blackberry and blackcurrant fruits, laced with incense, liqourice root, and still-present if softened tannis. Things end with a kick acidity, and the Petit Verdot seems to be playing a key role in the character, giving great balance and focus to the generosity of the vintage. Denis Dubourdieu consultant (as he had been before Edouard Miaihle returned, so working with his father William-Alain Miaihle).

Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2020-2035, Neal Martin, Jun 2020

The 2009 Siran from magnum, is a lovely Margaux, one that initially felt a bit over-ripe. It changed in recent years as it lost its baby fat, developing attractive blackberry, pencil box and morel scents that are distinctly richer than the 2010. The palate has filled out in recent months, quite full and voluminous with brown spices sprinkled over the black fruit, a touch of viscosity towards the opulent finish that maybe harks back to the style of Siran of the Nineties. Age has benefitted this Margaux and it will drink well for another decade. Tasted from a magnum at home.

Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2019-2038, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

In last year's tasting note, I mentioned that the 2009 Siran was one to watch. Revisiting the wine again almost (but not quite) a year later, the nose is unchanged with those blackcurrant and graphite aromas. The palate indicates a little more depth than 12 months ago, still tensile and fresh with a convincing grip. There is still some new oak to be fully assimilated towards the finish so afford it another year or two, no longer, and you will have a lovely 2009 Margaux on your hands, one that will give pleasure over the next 15-18 years. Tasted January 2017.

In the south of Margaux, this property has 36 hectares of vines. There’s an unusually large proportion of Petit Verdot (13%) in the vineyard, something which the team feels adds finesse, concentration and a spicy finish to the wine.
