Da bere 1995-2018, Jancis Robinson MW, May 2024

Full bottle 1,336 g. Shaded rust colour. Pale rim. Sweet, fully mature nose was spoilt by mild TCA which developed into full-scale corkiness with time. The initial tasting suggested that the wine was losing fruit and the finish was very dry. (JR)

Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2024-2032, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Jan 2024

Takes a moment to clear the slight brett on the first nose, but then it steals up on you, full of softly spoken strawberry and white truffle notes, with waves of Margaux flowers, tobacco and smoked earth. Absolutely ready to drink, no need to carafe, but no need to rush - it should stay on this plateau for another decade. Exact blend not known. William-Alain Miaihle owner at the time, the 3rd generation of the family in the role.

Approaching full maturity, the 1983 Siran has a smoky licorice-and-black currant-scented bouquet, rich, expansive flavors that offer more muscle and power than finesse, and a good finish. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 3/88.

In the south of Margaux, this property has 36 hectares of vines. There’s an unusually large proportion of Petit Verdot (13%) in the vineyard, something which the team feels adds finesse, concentration and a spicy finish to the wine.
