Punteggio 15.5/20 · Da bere 2015-2018, Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, Oct 2016

Merlot  with Cabernet Sauvignon, from a gravel outcrop in Moulis (one of the highest points in the Médoc, apparently). Mid to light ruby. Dark plums and a hint of spice on the nose – smells mellow and just a little earthy. Has that same mellow quality on the palate, gentle but definite tannins, just the right amount of freshness for the moderate depth of dark fruit. À point now but no rush to drink this. I suppose you could say it is on the lighter side but all in balance. (JH)

This has never been one of my favorites, although in great vintages where ripeness is easily obtained, it can be a useful wine. The 2012 seems to be reasonably successful for the vintage. It is not too austere, its tannins are fairly ripe, and the wine is mid-weight with attractive notes of black and red currant fruit, spice box and earth Drink it over the next 5-7 years.

Mid cherry red. Lovely cherry fragrance too. Cool and silky. Relatively lightweight but fine and gentle on the palate. Pretty and elegant. The producer was worried that this was a lighter-tasting sample than the rest and the second bottle was indeed firmer and richer. Bravo. (JH)

Dark purple. Sweet then savoury on the nose. Good freshness. Very plush texture and wonderful work to make this as engaging as possible but it all rather falls away towards the finish. Shame… Greenness and meanness assert themselves towards the end. (JR)
