Generally a hard style of wine from Listrac, the 2005 Fourcas Dupré has overcome the potentially high tannins of the vintage to produce a well-made, rather classic, dark ruby/plum colored wine that is not far from full maturity. Notes of cedar wood, underbrush, Christmas fruitcake and black cherry are all present in this wine. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.

Mid red. Meaty, spicy nose but a little lighter than most on the palate. No one could object – a lovely wine for early drinking with very slightly furry tannins. (JR)
Opulent nose. Very ambitious and taken to the limit of extraction. Rather hard work. A bit exaggerated though far from the most uncomfortable 2005 to taste now. A certain sweetness. And fizziness. Falls away on the finish. Trying just a bit too hard. (JR)

This estate saw a transformation when Guy Pagès bought it in 1970. His work, driving quality higher with increasing attention to detail and passion, has been continued by his son Patrice, who took over in 1985.
