Rainy summer, late harvest, as 2008 but completely different wine from 2008. Dark garnet with inky core. Fragrant and fresh and almost leafy. Firm and chewy and lovely dry texture. Still a long way to go. Quite thick in texture but so generous in fruit. Very long with a warm but not hot finish. Mouth-watering even though it is so sweet with oak sweetness as well as the fruit. Perfumed and seductive. (JH)

Full medium ruby. Aromas of blueberry, black cherry, pepper and oak. Sweet and fairly fat but with less verve and definition than the Tertre-Roteboeuf I tasted next to it. With its licorice and herb notes and its dusty tannins, this comes across as a bit rustic in flavors and texture. Not up to the quality of the past couple of vintages.
Extremely sweet and soft and even a bit flabby – a little too much black cherry richness for me. But François Mitjavile assures us that his wines will still be going strong when many earlier-picked ones will have fallen flat on their faces.
