Punteggio 17/20 · Da bere 2012-2024, Jancis Robinson MW, Oct 2024

Full bottle 1,337 g. From François and Emilie Mitjavile, son of Tertre Roteboeuf. In 2004 there was still Malbec and Cabernet Franc in the vineyard as well as today's Merlot with 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and I think you can taste, or at least smell, the slight gaminess of the Malbec. Transparent ruby. Looks fully mature. Very well evolved and fresh. Nice balance but much lighter and drier than L'Aurage 2020 to be served alongside. I don't regret opening this, the last bottle in the case I bought! It's definitely on the way down, as you would expect of a wine from this appellation at 20 years, though it's impressively persistent and refreshing, a sign of the limestone on which it is based presumably.  (JR)

Punteggio 17/20 · Da bere 2012-2024, Jancis Robinson MW, Dec 2019

Clear, shaded garnet. Voluptuous toasty nose and pretty opulent, mature Merlot notes on the palate plus refreshing acidity. Drinking very well now. Very far from a wine obviously from a lesser area of Bordeaux. (JR)

Mid ruby. Broad and evolved on the nose. Very winning and sweet but with a slightly rustic edge when tasted immediately after a pair of top quality right bank wines. Lots of pleasure but I don't think it will improve. Not especially long. I think subsequent vintages became more impressive. (JR)

Opposite to 2003. More careful racking to reduce exposure to oxygen but they had to work the wine quite a lot. Deep dark garnet with brick rim. Spicy and sweet with some fruit cake here, even some oak sweetness. But so fresh and not marked by undergrowth though it's starting to show. Chalky texture and fantastic freshness. Deep in fruit and very very long. Still so much fruit even in this mature flavour. Chewy and full of energy and still the sweetness of red fruit. Dry but some succulence – lovely seductive fruit sweetness on the finish. (JH)
