Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2014-2029, Robert Parker, Aug 2014

A beautiful Margaux, the 2003 Marojallia exhibits notes of licorice, charcoal, graphite, black currants and flowers. This sensational effort may be one of the top two or three wines of the vintage. Still young and fresh with an opaque plum/purple color, medium to full-bodied flavors and terrific intensity, purity and equilibrium, this beauty is a testament to Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud. It should continue to evolve for another 10-15 years.

Healthy ruby-red. Lively aromas of currant, blueberry, violet and bitter chocolate. Juicy and bright, with redcurrant, floral and mineral flavors complicated by a faint animal quality. Finishes with firm, slightly edgy tannins and very good verve for the year.

Punteggio 15.5/20 · Da bere 2010-2016, Jancis Robinson MW, Apr 2005

Very deep purple, very right bank (the Thunevins' outpost in the left bank). Very extracted. Almost painfully concentrated. Lots of tannin and acidity. Dramatic, showy but not balanced. (JR)

(a 50/50 blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot) Deep ruby. Exotic, high-toned aromas of blueberry and dark chocolate. Superripe and dense, with high-pitched flavors of berries, licorice and shoe polish. Offers surprising life and grip in the mouth for such an exotic wine. Finishes with firm tannins and very good persistence. (My sample of this property's second wine, Clos Margalaine, was leathery and distinctly funky and is likely to be flash-pasteurized, according to Jean-Luc Thunevin.)
