Ruby shading to tawny. Very pale rim. Sweet, rich nose. But rather dried out on the palate. Pretty astringent. Where’s the fruit? Desperately needs food. (JR)
Medium red. Deep aromas of plum, cherry, faded rose, mocha, animal fur and smoke. Lush, spicy and layered in the mouth, with red fruit and oak flavors of modest clarity. Longer and spicier on the finish, which shows considerably more wood tannins than Rousseau's '97 Ruchottes or Clos de la Roche, as well as a hint of unabsorbed acidity.
