Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2003-2009, Robert Parker, Oct 1994

Tasted 9 Times Since Bottling With Consistent Notes The 1983 Le Pin offers a huge, soaring bouquet of smoky oak, spices, and sweet fruits. This splendidly opulent, voluptuously textured wine reveals the gorgeous sweetness and ripeness of fruit so much a hallmark of this estate. The 1983 Le Pin has low acidity, gobs of glycerin, superb extraction of fruit, and a sensational finish. It appeared lighter in its youth, with less aromatic and flavor dimension. Now that it has reached its plateau of maturity, it is one of my two or three favorite examples of this exotically styled, kinky wine. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.

Drying out a bit, but still outstanding. Lots of berry on the nose, with a hint of tobacco. It follows through to a medium body, with berry and blackberry flavors, and licorice and tobacco undertones. Medium finish.--Le Pin non-blind vertical. Drink now. James Suckling,Wine Spectator2008

Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2019-2030, Neal Martin

The 1983 Le Pin has an amazing nose of candied red berry fruit, orange peel, Manuka honey, damson and after a few minutes, a touch of kirsch. This is decadent and irresistible. The palate is full-bodied and showing more vigor than the 1982 Le Pin served alongside. Its silky texture is borrowed from Romanée-St.-Vivant. Feminine and seductive, the 1983 seduces and surprises with a powerful, grippy finish. There is a sense of completeness to this Pomerol, an alluring Le Pin at the peak of its powers. The 1983 is sensational. Only 380 cases were produced. Tasted at Bipin Desai’s Le Pin vertical in Los Angeles in November 2008. Tasting note taken from the Pomerol book by Neal Martin.
