(aged in a 50/50 blend of French and American oak): Saturated ruby. Black raspberry, cherry-cola, vanilla and floral pastilles on the fragrant nose. Balances richness off finesse on the palate, displaying densely packed dark berry flavors and a sexy lavender pastille nuance. Lively acidity provides lift and cut to the gently tannic finish, which leaves a sweet dark berry liqueur note behind.

Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2013-2015, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Feb 2013

The 2009 Emilio Moro comes from 15- and 25-year-old vines and is aged for 12 months in used barrels. It has a pleasing nose of blackberry and macerated red cherries that are well-defined, keeping the nose fresh and lively. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, ripe blueberry and raspberry fruit with an abrupt, but well-defined, spicy finish. This is a well-crafted wine that offers pleasurable early drinking. Drink now-2015. The important year for Bodegas Emilio Moro is 1932 – when the Finca Resalso vines were planted and Emilio Moro was born. For many years the fruit was sold off in bulk until 1988, when Jose Moro Espinosa invested his savings and established his own bodega, joining the D.O. the following year. I found the wines to be rich, decadent and packed to the rafters with ebullient ripe fruit. Personally, I would prefer to see less dependency on new oak, as I feel that it is masking the individuality of the terroir. If you have a pretty face – there is no need to hide it away. Glass-staining ruby. Seductive aromas of blackberry and blueberry preserves, cherry-cola and rose, with a sexy incense note and a touch of allspice. Stains the palate with dark berry compote and spicecake flavors, with zesty minerality adding cut. Blends depth and vivacity smoothly, finishing with impressive clarity, a kiss of vanillin oak and lingering sweetness.
