Punteggio 90/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2013

Bright ruby-red. Musky black raspberry, with exotic suggestions of peach and apricot. Intensely flavored and fruit-driven, showcasing the energy and inner-mouth tension of the vintage. This sexy village wine finishes with broad, ripe tannins.

A pure nose that is distinctly floral speaks of ripe purple fruit and warm earth where the latter element is also abundantly present on the delicious middle weight flavors that are shaped by relatively refined tannins, all wrapped in a mouth coating finish that offers lovely complexity for a villages level wine. This is really lovely and there is less youthful austerity than one typically finds. Recommended. *Outstanding*

Punteggio 88-90/100 · Da bere 2013-2020, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2012

The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin is rich, round and seductive. Dark cherries, plums, licorice and savory herbs are some of the notes that emerge from this fleshy, seductive Gevrey. This is a terrific effort at the villages level and a very generous wine for the vintage overall.

Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020. Olivier Bernstein is one of the younger generation of micro-negociants who owns no vineyards, but rather sources fruit from a variety of vineyards. In just a few years Bernstein has put together an impressive collection of wines from some of the Cote d’Or’s most prestigious appellations. Bernstein describes 2010 as a vintage with a lot of millerandage (shot berries). The 2010s were vinified with 50% stems and the malos finished in July, which is fairly standard for the year. None of the 2010s had been racked at the time of my visit in late November 2011 and bottling was planned for March and April 2012. Stylistically, these are fleshy, generous wines that stand apart for their textural depth. A Becky Wasserman Selection, Le Serbet, imported by: Fine Vines LLC, Melrose Park. IL; tel. (708) 343-6702
