Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2000-2010, Robert Parker, Apr 2000

The 1997 is an exotic, rich, thick, jammy wine with abundant black cherry aromas mixed with scents of roasted coffee, smoke, and toasty new oak. With low acidity, and a delicious, medium-bodied, ostentatious personality, this seductive offering can be drunk now as well as over the next 8-10 years. This is one of St.-Emilion's so-called "garage" wines - small cuvees aimed at the luxury marketplace (in this case, 3,000 cases of a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, aged in 100% new French oak, some of which receives the "200%" new oak treatment).

Seductive young wine. Pretty plum and berry character with a hint of mushroom. Medium-bodied, with lovely, polished tannins and a long, caressing finish. Drink now through 2004. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 2000
