2004 Chambolle Musigny Clos de l'Orme

50-plus-year-old vines. Hint of blue but slightly more transparent than the Nuits. More complex than the Nuits 2005. Real delicacy. Looks lovely now. (This wine shone a bit like the d'Angerville Clos des Ducs 2004 in d'Angerville back to 1990.) Great precision. Dry finish. But very delicate. Great balance and I think you could start to enjoy this now. (JR)

(tasted from tank) Medium red. Sappy raspberry and cherry fruit aromas perked up by a peppery nuance. Supple, sweet and fruity, with sound acidity. Should make a stylish, firm village wine. This was 12.5% natural alcohol chaptalized to 13%.

A bit muted on the nose. Slighty dead compared to the Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots, but very clean, fresh and fruity. Delicate and well etched. Spreads across the palate. Why did Lay & Wheeler show this after a Vosne? (JR)
