This wine is ruby/purple-colored and reveals aromas of freshly cut flowers, blackberries, and hints of road tar. Its chewy-textured, medium-to-full-bodied, and structured personality is layered with black fruits, cherries, and traces of raw meat. I admired this wine's power and depth of fruit. Similar deep color. More rustic, deeper-pitched aromas of black fruits, saddle leather, duck sauce and smoky oak. Solidly built and chewy in the mouth; typical Nuits. Less fat and delineated, perhaps owing to lower acidity. But brooding, very concentrated and long on the palate. Seems clearly deeper than the '95 from these vines.
