(100% vendange entier ): Bright medium red. High-toned, very ripe aromas of kirsch and coffee, along with a suggestion of nutty oak. Lush on the palate, with redcurrant, spice and nutty oak flavors showing a faint green edge. Gained in sweetness with aeration and finishes with good length, but this wine shows a rather disjointed green/tired quality. I had a much stronger impression of this wine when I tasted it from barrel in November of 2013.

(just 2-1/2 barrels produced, but then there were only 1-1/2 in vintage 2011; vinified entirely with whole clusters): Bright full red. Liqueur-like aromas and flavors of framboise and kirsch complicated by notes of cherry pit and coffee. Lush, silky and broad; more voluminous than the foregoing samples but given shape and lift by sexy spices and white pepper. This very dense wine finishes sweet and long, with fine-grained tannins and considerable early appeal. Leaves behind a perfume of flowers and pepper in the empty glass. This should display lovely fruit complexity in two or three years.
