Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2016-2035, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2014

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Clos de la Roche Grand Cru ’11 from La Pousse d’Or has a delightful bouquet with fine minerality percolating through the carapace of red cherries and cranberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity. This is underpinned by fine tension. It feels a little pointed toward the finish but there is impressive persistence thanks to the dash of pepper on the aftertaste. This is elegant and graceful, though not quite matching the following vintage.

Dark red with ruby highlights. Very ripe but discreet aromas of dark cherry liqueur, wild berries and licorice, plus a note of sweet spices (cumin?). Dense, bright and savory; silky and soil-driven, with saline minerality complicating the berry and spice flavors. Finishes very long and perfumed, with excellent energy for the year. This is one address where I preferred the 2011s to the 2012s.

(from 40+-year-old vines that were originally part of Domaine Remy; this cuvee fermented for three months, finishing off the last of its sugar in barrel; it also finished its malo later, in June): Red-ruby. Slightly high-toned aromas of black cherry, underbrush, wild herbs, mocha and licorice. The most vibrant of Landanger's Cote de Nuits wines in 2011 and quite different in style from the rest, showing more sharply delineated, explosive black fruit flavors along with a very fine-grained texture. Really stimulates the salivary glands on the long, mounting finish, which features suave, spreading tannins. The first vintage for this bottling chez Landanger was 2009.
