Medium red. Sauvage aromas of redcurrant, rust, mocha, brown spices and earth. At once silky and bright, with excellent energy and a distinct wildness to its highly concentrated red berry flavors. Finishes brisk, penetrating and long, with a building element of five-spice powder. Proprietor Patrick Landanger, who admits he's not a fan of old Burgundies, noted that this wine can be enjoyed today with two hours of decanting.

(from vines between 50 and 60 years of age, according to cellarmaster Bouillot): Bright, saturated red. Knockout primary nose offers aromas of crushed cherry, flowers and fresh blood lifted by wild rose and blood orange. Silky on entry, then pure and sharply delineated in the middle, with an urgent quality and great thrust to its dark cherry and crushed rock flavors. Finishes with noble tannins and outstanding palate-staining persistence.
Blackish crimson. Really pungent nose even if less lively on the palate. Great concentration even if not much excitement yet. (JR)
