Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2018-2035, Neal Martin, Jan 2019

The 1983 Brane-Cantenac was picked from September 26 to October 17 following a blissfully clement late September. It is showing signs of maturity on the rim, but do not let that dissuade you from venturing further, because it boasts a sublime bouquet of red berry fruit, pressed flowers, cedar and hints of cigar humidor. Just wonderful! The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannin, yet there is still admirable structure, a fine thread of acidity and a harmonious, persistent finish of blackberry, cedar, clove and tobacco. Superb. Tasted at the Brane-Cantenac vertical at the château .

Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2016-2025, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2016

Tasted at the chateau with Henri Lurton. The 1983 Brane-Cantenac has a wonderful bouquet with exceptionally fine delineation of blackberry, leather, pine needles and graphite, developing a faint truffle scent with aeration. The palate is very elegant and refined, just the kind of mature Margaux that I adore. Supple tannins, hints of star anise, gaining depth towards the finish but always composed and with a sense of restraint. It fleshes out nicely in the glass and ameliorates into a gorgeous wine. Tasted April 2010.

Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2003-2005, Robert Parker, Jan 2003

This wine has been fully mature for a number of years but is still a very sensual, seductive, fragrant style of Brane-Cantenac, with notes of melted asphalt intermixed with damp earth, plum, cherry, and currant. The wine is heady, medium to full-bodied, very supple, with light tannins in the finish. Anticipated maturity: Now-2005. Last tasted, 5/02.
