Note di degustazione
More crisp and mineral driven on the nose than the ’09, the 2008 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc shows citrus and lime nuances as well as plenty of mineral, crushed rock, and a touch of honey. This medium bodied wine shows solid freshness, clean fruit and a classy long finish. Given how the ’97 is drinking today, this will no doubt evolve for 2 decades.

The 2008 Chateauneuf du Pape blanc exhibits fresh, lively pear and nectarine notes interwoven with a hint of honeyed grapefruit. Medium-bodied and clean with excellent acidity, length, and body, it should be consumed over the next 2-3 years. Paul Avril, one of the legendary figures of Chateauneuf du Pape, passed away this year, but his talented son, Vincent, will continue to produce estate-bottled, traditional Chateauneuf du Papes. Visiting here without Paul in the cellars was melancholy. Importer: Alain Junguenet, Wines of France, Mountainside, NJ; tel. (908) 654-6173
