Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2002-2025, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, May 2022

The medium to full-bodied 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc offers up notes of petrol, beeswax, marmalade and tangerine. Plump and succulent across the mid-palate, it turns a bit chalky on the long finish. Remarkably delicious, but very different from how these wines present themselves on release, it reveals the difficulty in projecting drinking windows for this bottling.

I was also able to taste the 2001 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc during my visit, and it shows how well these wines can age. Beautiful stone fruits, pear, almond paste, and white flowers notes emerge from the glass, and it’s rich, full-bodied, perfectly balanced, and drinking at point today.
