Black as tar. Fragrant with dark fruit and just a little leafy in a good way. Dark-earth fragrance. Firm, dry but with a cool fluid effect and has much better length than the Côte Baleu, just tasted. Sour freshness on the long finish. A little chewy but all in place. Bitter finish brings it down a little. But unlike many 2011 St-Émilions, lots of richness to balance the tannins. (JH)

One of the few blockbuster wines in this vintage, Gracia’s 2011 exhibits an opaque blue/purple color along with gorgeous aromas of graphite, chalk, black currants, blueberries, camphor and a hint of truffles. Full-bodied and rich, with good acidity, this luscious St.-Emilion should drink well in 2-3 years and last for 15.
