The 2005 Sigalas Rabaud has a comparatively rich, heavily botrytized nose that responds to modest aeration. Gorgeous scents of honey, saffron and mandarin notes abound; they are well-defined and potent. The palate is likewise, no shy retiring wallflower with copious honeyed fruit, a little more unctuous than other vintages. The harmonious finish delivers the decadence one expects from Sauternes but with a commensurate class. Recommended. Tasted from a bottle sent directly from Sigalas Rabaud to the UK.

Pale gold colored, the 2005 Sigalas Rabaud offers up a pleasantly toasty, nutty, evolved nose over a core of baked apples and spice box. Mature with plenty of mature praline and apple pie goodness, it has a lovely line of freshness and a caramel laced finish.
Tasted blind. Deep brassy gold. Broad, with the fruit very slightly tending to oxidation. Rich and round. Burnished-metal effect. Savoury finish. I could easily imagine enjoying this with spicy sausages. Just slightly lacks an undertow. (JR)
