Note di degustazione
The 1978 Léoville-Poyferré was the last vintage before the arrival of Didier Cuvelier. The nose is fully mature with tobacco and pine cone scents, a little diffuse but not terrible. The palate is dry on the entry, though there is less VA than other mature vintages of this Saint-Julien. The austere finish suggests bottles should be consumed soon.

An easygoing wine, with soft, charming, above-average-intensity flavors, medium body, and very light tannins, this is a wine that has obviously been vinified for near-term consumption. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 4/82.

Informazioni sul produttore

Ch. Léoville-Poyferré is a Second Growth Saint-Julien property that was once part of the same estate as Ch. Léoville Barton and Ch. Léoville Las Cases. It has the most complex and varied soils of the three and produces the most voluptuous, seductive style of wine.
