Punteggio 93-95/100 · Da bere 2025-2040, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2012

The 2010 Vosne-Romanée Cros Parantoux literally floats on the palate with a weightless, minimalist voice in its fruit that is strikingly beautiful. Today the wine appears to be holding back much of its potential, but it is the insistent, saline minerality that appears to hold the key for the future.

Bright, dark red. Wonderfully complex nose offers raspberry, minerals, violet, mocha, smoke and sexy oak spices. Like liquid silk on entry, then strongly mineral in the middle, with obvious acidity that will require time to knit with the wine's fruit. Today the Brulees is sweeter. But this youthfully imploded, tannic 2008 should be great.

Today the wine appears to be holding back much of its potential, but it is the insistent, saline minerality that appears to hold the key for the future. Anticipated maturity: 2025-2040. Jean-Nicolas Meo was away on the day of my visit, so I tasted with assistant winemaker Peer Reiss. The harvest started on September 22 and took about ten days to complete. Overall, I am a big fan of the 2010s here. Although I did not get a chance to taste the 2009s from bottle, my notes suggest 2010 will turn out to be the more interesting vintage.
