Stupendous aromas – unique and unusual. It's part shoe-polish, part bouquet garni, and the rest mouldy red fruit – which, in this context, was a good thing! Spice, pepper, very opulent. Meat gravy, vanilla bean, sawdust, very exotic spice profile and a dusty texture. The flavours are bewitching; weird, challenging, engaging, conversational. Truly a wine to divide and conquer. (RH)

Some lightening of the color is now evident though there is no bricking. An expressive nose that is essentially completely mature offers spicy secondary fruit aromas that are complex and classy while introducing delicious and concentrated flavors of obvious breed but there is a hint of under ripeness, even greenness to the chewy, firmly structured and even slightly tough finish that detracts somewhat from the overall effect. I like the complexity and this certainly is not without appeal but the finish is rendered awkward by the mildly astringent tannins and while they are certainly not resolved at present, I would suggest drinking the '95 Cros anyway while there is fruit remaining as this will very likely dry out in time.
