Note di degustazione
One of the new stars in the Turley portfolio is their 1998 Zinfandel Pringle Family Vineyard (16.1% alcohol). This is among the most firmly-structured and backward of the Turley Zinfandels. It offers a dense ruby/purple color as well as earthy, foresty, black raspberry, and black cherry liqueur aromas. The wine is deep and full-bodied, with some tannin, excellent purity and overall symmetry. It will benefit from another 6-12 months of bottle age, and will last for 7-8 years, or more. Good full ruby. Superripe aromas of blackberry liqueur and pepper; shows a distinct aspect of surmaturite but also a faint green component. Sweet on entry, then rather dominated by powerful acids and firm underlying structure. Ultimately conveys a very dry impression. Finishes with rather tough tannins. This is powerful but difficult to taste today. Will it still have its fruit when the tannins soften?
