Note di degustazione
Clearly the top wine of the appellation, Clarke has been a solid, well-made effort for a number of years. The 2004 exhibits chunky fruit, ripe tannin, and notes of underbrush, sweet and sour cherries, and black currants. It should drink well for 10-15 years.

Almost impenetrable crimson. Quite a bit of oak on the nose but good quality oak and very voluptuous. (Quite a contrast to the Margaux and Palmer I have just tasted!) Hint of char. Some rather obvious sweetness – velvety – rather Rolland-like, certainly distinctive. Very aggressive oak tannins on the finish. Not harmonious. Impressive but not a pleasure. [Yes, this is a Rolland wine, and very obviously so. (JR)
