Dark ruby. Slightly spiritous aromas of dark berries, pepper and smoke. Juicy and pliant, with ripe blackberry and cassis flavors tinged by cracked pepper and black tea. Some fairly serious tannins creep up on the finish but don't dry the lush, ripe, dark fruit flavors, which take on subtle oak spice tones on the back.

Made from younger vines, the full-bodied, ripe, well-endowed, heady 2003 Shiraz exhibits earthy blackberry/chocolate notes, a touch of sweet earth, and a full-throttle finish.
