Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2025-2046, Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate, Sep 2025

The 2006 Grenache Old Vines Romas Vineyard is supple and fresh, detailed and ample. This is looking beautiful today and has a long future ahead of it. Tertiary notes seamlessly intersect with more primary fruit notes, and as usual, the tannins pull through the persistent finish. Sealed under natural cork and poured from magnum.

Medium garnet-purple in color and displaying a beautiful nose of violets, orange peel and black cherries alongside notes of spice cake, white pepper and lavender, the full-bodied 2006 Romas Vineyard Grenache is big, rich and gorgeous with a crisp acid backbone draped with layer upon layer of concentrated fruit flavor. The medium-firm, very fine tannins carry it through to a long finish. (LPB)

Big, bold attack but then very tart and tannic on the finish. Maybe this just needed more aeration to show its charms? But it seemed very unfriendly and awkward when poured. (JR)

Vivid ruby. Exotic Asian spices and smoky minerals accent fresh raspberry and boysenberry on the nose; shows more perfumed anise, patchouli and vanilla notes with aeration. Sweet black raspberry and cherry-vanilla flavors are sharpened by tangy minerals but betray no rough edges. This really stains the palate, leaving deep dark berry liqueur and candied floral notes behind, eventually. This is irresistible now. (ST)
