2010 Gazin Rocquencourt

Very dark. Rich and round. Slightly green and chewy. Not that concentrated. (JR)

Loads of smoky barbecue notes intermixed with black currant and cherry, in addition to some oak and lead pencil shavings, are followed by a medium to full-bodied wine with impressive concentration, texture and a long finish. There’s nothing astringent – the wine has a velvety mouthfeel and the finish is quite long. It is a major sleeper of the vintage. Drink it over the next decade. This small estate in Pessac-Leognan is largely unknown by most consumers, but they have always made good wine, and 2010 may be the finest Gazin-Rocquencourt I’ve tasted.

Very racy and dry and serious. Lovely green fruit character. Limpid and convincing. Chewy finish. (JR)
