85% Sémillon, 10% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle. Vines are 45 years old, planted on red clay over limestone on the Haut-Barsac plateau at 6,500 vines/ha. The grapes were hand-picked with severe selection made in the vineyard and 5 separate tries. Must was fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, then aged for 16 months in 225l oak barrels of which 20% were new oak. Winemakers Edouard Massie and Henri Boyer. Pale gold and full of sweetness and richness. Massively appealing peachiness. But good fresh acidity on the end. Slightly tooth rotting. Long and not subtle but VGV . (JR)

The Chateau Liot is slightly deeper in colour, armed with a pretty nose of light honey, acacia and apple-blossom aromas. The palate has a fresh entry with good acidity, a fine sense of tension, but cuts away very sharply towards the finish. For its class, it demonstrates good tautness and precision, if not the length and complexity of its peers.
