Dark crimson. Quite open and evolved on the nose. Sweet start. Pretty simple. (JR)
Another sleeper of the vintage from this large estate (95 acres purchased by the owners of the Louis Roederer Champagne firm), the deep plum/ruby-hued 2008 De Pez possesses soft acids, low acidity, medium to full body and attractive plum, red and black currant, licorice and spice box characteristics. A blend of 50% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Petit Verdot, it should be consumed over the next 10 years.
Sappy and very refreshing. Toasty but with nice energy and freshness. Drive even if not especially ripe. Pretty angular tannins on the end. (JR)

The Rouzaud family of Champagne Louis Roederer purchased this Saint-Estèphe estate in 1995. The property comprises 23 hectares of vines, divided between 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and 15% Merlot. The wine is aged in around 25% new oak for 18 months.
