Medium red. Lovely energy and a whiff of reduction to the aromas of raspberry, flowers, underbrush and sexy oak. Suave, pliant and concentrated, with a sexy exotic aspect to its soil-driven flavors of minerals, currant and raspberry. Wonderfully thick and sweet but without any undue weight. Most impressive today on the unflagging finish. Lost a bit of its baby fat with 24 hours in the recorked bottle but this is a superb 2011--and an outperformer for its appellation.

A markedly floral nose offers up ripe notes of lilac and rose petal along with pretty red and dark pinot fruit and subtle herbal tea nuances. There is good body and mid-palate density to the rich, round and delicious flavors that possess fine complexity on the mildly rustic and persistent finish where the herbal element resurfaces which may bother some tasters. Tasted: Jan 15, 2014. Drink: 2017+
