Punteggio 97/100 · Da bere 2022-2038, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Jun 2022

Velvety ruby red, gorgeous balance, love how confident this is, with depth and class and utterly moreish. One of my favourites in the lineup, showing so much better than the last time I tasted it, and it still has a way to go in front of it. Clear spice, plump blackberry, loganberry and red cherry fruits, liqourice, cocoa bean, espresso, capturing a purity of fruit expression yet creamy in texture. 30 days skin contact.

Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2013-2025, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jun 2013

The 1990 Opus One is another powerful wine built on a serious core of tannin and structure. There is plenty of richness in the glass, but a little less intensity and complexity than the best wines of this era. I imagine the 1990 will still be a delicious wine in another decade. The 1990 is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 3% Merlot.

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 1993-2011, Robert Parker, Oct 1993

This is a terrific Opus, with a broader, deeper palate and less of the overly-sculptured, structured feel that past examples have revealed. The 1990 exhibits a dark ruby/purple color, and a spicy, rich, sweet nose of cassis, vanillin, lead pencil, herbs, and minerals. Medium to full-bodied, with low acidity, sweet tannin, and wonderful layers of ripe, pure, rich fruit, the wine is in complete harmony, without being excessively acidified or brutally tannic. This is a gorgeous Opus for drinking over the next 16-18 years. My instincts suggest it is the most promising Opus One made to date.
