Smells very youthful: sweet fruit and toasty oak. Thick but smooth grip, fruit a little subdued compared with the nose. Dry but not drying finish. Could do with a little more flesh in the middle. (JH)

Restrained, slightly savoury dark fruit, minerally freshness on the nose. Dry powdery tannins, but definite classic restraint without underripeness. Maybe just a little too dry and not enough depth of fruit for this stage in its evolution? (JH)
Light and relatively simple on the nose with strong purple notes. Not exactly subtle – ripe plus acidity and slightly furry and very evident tannins on the finish. (JR)
Lively deep purple. Rich, opulent, almost porty nose with some oak. Then rather austere palate without quite enough depth in the middle. Some hints of smoked bacon but could do with very slightly more flesh. Very dry tannins on the finish but not quite enough zest. All upfront but not too exaggerated. Great charge of ripe fruit leaves it a bit formless at present. (JR)
