Speaks eloquently of its origin – big fruit impact and loads of oak spice too. Impressive and massive, with plenty of age ahead of it, even at eight years old. (RH)

99% Shiraz, 1% Chardonnay. You do wonder why on earth this contains 1% Chardonnay!? Pretty, floral, well-balanced nose. Gentle and fully evolved. Some warmth and lots of Barossa earthiness. (JR)
Deep garnet-black colored, the 2008 Stonewell Shiraz presents relatively youthful notes of warm black plums, blackcurrant cordial and crushed blueberries over licorice, chocolate box and yeast extract. Full bodied, ripe, rich and expressive in the mouth, it is adeptly structured with refreshing acidity and a firm level of grainy tannins. The long finish provides layers of dark fruit and spice flavors. Drinking well now, it should continue to evolve gracefully through 2021+. Importer: The Hess Collection New World Wines, Napa, CA
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2008 Shiraz is scented of black cherry and crushed blackberries with hints of licorice and tar. High acidity plus a medium level of fine tannins structure the full bodied palate, and it finishes long with plenty of juicy fruit. Drinking now, it should remain this appealingly vibrant to 2014. Peter Lehman produces a solid range of well made wines that, if lacking a bit of soul, are nonetheless very drinkable. Importer: The Hess Collection New World Wines, Napa, CA
