Punteggio 89/100 · Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider, Jun 2024

Earthy, rustic, chewy, medium-bodied, truffle, tobacco, and red plum-filled wine with an old-school, vibrant, bright finish. This is the oldest Feytit Clinet I have ever tasted. Drink from 2024-2024.

Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2024-2034, Neal Martin, Apr 2024

The 1964 Feytit-Clinet is a wine that I have drunk on just one occasion, around a decade ago, so I procured this bottle in Bordeaux as my donation to Olivier Bernard's "4" dinner. Deep in hue, it offers black plum mixed with Xmas cake and tobacco, later melted tar, maybe a little rustic, but there's power in situ. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins. This is a "solid" rather than elegant Pomerol, with a touch of sinew on the mid-palate. You could quibble by asserting (correctly) that it lacks a bit of precision. Yet I admire the dark berry fruit mixed with gravelly notes on the finish with a suggestion of orange rind on the aftertaste. It's worth seeking out. Tasted blind at Olivier Bernard's "4" dinner at Domaine de Chevalier.
