Tasted blind. Bright ruby. Very well-integrated nose. Pungent with some minerally notes aromatically plus sweetness and gaminess on the palate. Just a little stolid on the palate but pretty satisfying. Spicy. (JR)

Already showing secondary notes of truffle, black cherry, smoke, espresso, earth and tobacco, the wine is full bodied, with a polish to the tannins, ending with a splash of earthy plum and licorice. This can age and improve for at least another 5-7 years, or more.
A dark, almost primordial style of Pomerol, the 2005 Providence has notes of new saddle leather, licorice, truffle, loamy soil, forest floor and earth, with plenty of rich blackcurrant and black cherry fruit behind all of these nuances. It is a big, masculine, full-bodied, intense Pomerol to cellar for another 4-5 years, and drink over the following two decades.
Mid crimson. Fresh and lively. Real spine to this wine. Racy and reminds me of a sword. Clean even if it leaves the palate rather suddenly. Mountain-stream stuff. (JR)
