2012 Duo de la Conseillante

Note di degustazione
The 2012 Duo de Conseillante is much better than the 2011: lively, vivacious red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit, a touch of sous-bois and cigar humidor. I like the delineation here. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip on the entry. Certainly this Duo is not short of substance with a gentle tannic grip towards the finely balanced, harmonious finish. Excellent for a deuxième vin . Tasted at La Conseillante vertical at the property.

The spectacular quality of the 2012 Conseillante has also resulted in a good second wine. The dark ruby/purple 2012 Duo de Conseillante has loads of fruit, but less depth and ripeness than its bigger sibling. Nevertheless, it is well-made and best drunk over the next 7-8 years.
90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. pH 3.76. 22% of crop – more than usual (average 10%) because less Cabernet Franc in Conseillante. pH 3.76, 50% new oak. Deep cherry red. A touch spirity on the nose. Firm but velvety and generous, sweet, almost red fruited. Approachable and still fresh. (JH)
