Note di degustazione
The final part of the season wasn’t very sunny, with a cloudy August and September. Manual harvest was done at various intervals in order to pick ripe grapes only. ‘At the beginning the wine wasn’t very expressive and [was] difficult for us to understand.’ Certified organic by BIOS. Golden straw-yellow. Still a little brooding and with hints of white fruit and quince paste with a perfumed, honeyed note. Layered quince and pear fruit on the palate, with a hint of preserved lemon. Very long and suave and with a salty, minerally hint on the finish. Not an aromatic bomb, but minerally, poised, viscous and layered. (WS)

The 2010 Soave Classico Calvarino is sweetly perfumed yet delicate, with nuances of candied lime and kiwi offset by the slightest hint of ground ginger. A wave of vibrant acidity creates a reverberation of zesty tension with a pleasant inner sweetness and ripe pit fruits, along with a hint of vanilla. This tapers off remarkably fresh and almost juicy in feel. The 2010 is in a very pretty place right now.
The flagship 2010 Soave Classico Calvarino is a standout. Detail and nuance are the hallmarks of this finely chiseled, sculpted wine. Today, the 2010 is painfully young and compact, but it appears to be built for long-term aging. White flowers, bright fruit and crushed rocks linger on the gorgeous finish. This is for the cellar. The 2010 is 70% Garganega 30% Trebbiano di Soave vinified and aged in glass lined cement, with some lees stirring.
