Tasted blind at the Farr Vintners' 2006 horizontal, the 2006 Chateau Branon possesses an upfront bouquet with blackberry and briary, undergrowth and clove scents that display good intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy ripe tannin, well-judged acidity, not overly complex, but nicely defined with a crisp, lightly spiced, cedar-tinged finish. This small Pessac-Léognan estate has been owned by the Garcin family since 1996. Today the wine comes from just 0.8 hectares of the oldest vines, all farmed biodynamically, producing a vibrant and pure style of Bordeaux that ages beautifully.
