The 2008 Echezeaux is a deep, powerful Burgundy imbued with layers of dark, earthy fruit. Tar, licorice and smoke follow, adding an element of gravitas. The aromas and flavors swirl around beautifully in the glass as the wine continues to open up. This is another fabulous showing from Jadot. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2028. (August malo) Good deep red. Very ripe, high-toned nose dominated by maraschino cherry. Distinctly liqueur-like in the mouth, with an exotic character for a wine in this cellar. Long and sweet on the aftertaste. When I asked Lardiere what the volatile acidity was here, he told me 0.48, compared to more like 0.25 for most of his other wines. That latter figure is extremely low by Burgundy standards, and 0.48 is average.
The 2008 Grands-Echezeaux is wonderfully expressive in its aromas and flavors. Clean, mineral notes frame an attractive melange of sweet red cherries, flowers, licorice and spices in this mid-weight, intensely long Burgundy. This is a classy effort from Jadot. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2028. Wine Advocate.September, 2011

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
