2002 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc

Sadly, because of space limitations, it was not possible to include tasting notes for this wine. However, readers should be aware that neither 2003 nor 2002 was a great vintage for white wines. Normally these wines can be extremely long-lived, lasting 20-25, sometimes 30+ years.

Cool aromas of grapefruit, lime, peach and resiny oak. Tightly wound, juicy and very intense, with precise flavors that are at once delicate and penetrating: honeysuckle, white peach, minerals, verbena. A sappy wine with impressive energy. The 2003 is broad, drier and more alcoholic, while this is at once leaner and sweeter.

(an 80/20 blend of sauvignon blanc and semillon) Pungent, incisive aromas of grapefruit and orange skin, with a whiff of white peach. Juicy, penetrating and amazingly fresh, with brilliant acidity accentuating the crystalline purity of the fruit. Still shows a crushed raw grape character, as well as firm underlying minerality. Steely and taut. Ripe, brisk and very long on the aftertaste. The most exciting young white Graves I tasted from this vintage, along with the Haut-Brion Blanc.
