A very savour nose gives way to a plump, juicy palate with lovely fine tannin. Nice.

The 2011 Canon-la-Gaffelière has a lovely nose with brambly red fruit, rose petal and certainly more vigour than many of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with a piquant entry, raspberry and mulberry laced with white pepper and clove, with a fine and quite cohesive finish. This is ageing well in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting.
Tasted blind. Quite evolved at the rim. Fragrant and ripe on the nose. Sweet and pleasant with virtually no tannin evident – most unusual for a 2011! A tad simple. (JR)
Tasted blind. Dark ruby. Sweet dried-fruit characters on the nose. Gentle and round. Sensitively made. Flattering even if not the most concentrated. (JR)
