Good bright medium red. Musky, reticent nose began quite inexpressive. Superripe, dense and minerally; initially showed a chocolatey, roasted fruit character and a slightly dry-edged, dusty finish but grew fresher and silkier with extended aeration, revealing powerful ripe raspberry character and much more pliancy of texture. Very much a 2003 in style, but the wine's huge density and peppery persistence suggest it will evolve slowly in bottle and last a long time.

Good ruby-red. Superripe, exotic, complex nose combines blackberry, minerals, licorice and crushed stone. Lush and silky but not overly sweet, with flavors of dark fruits, minerals and licorice. Very much in the superripe style of the year, and yet the wine's underlying minerality gives it a coolness and a firm shape.
