Very youthful but obviously very good with massive structure and massive fruit. This was still opening up and expanding even an hour and half after being poured. Still quite a bit of acid and tannin in evidence. Gorgeous bright bitter cherry fruit and then quite a strict finish. This clearly has a great future. (JR)

The ruby-colored 1999 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses exhibits violet, rose, and black cherry aromatics. This stone, mineral, pit fruit, and cherry-flavored wine is light to medium-bodied and firm. Pomegranates can be discerned in its otherwise metal-flavored finish. It is fresh, lively, and expressive. Drink it over the next 8 years. Importer: Dreyfus Ashby, New York, NY; tel. (212) 818-0770.
Bright, deep ruby-red. Sappy aromas of raspberry and dark chocolate. Lush, thick and round, but with pungent minerality and firm acids giving clarity to the wine's strong fruit. Very long on the finish, with chewy but fine tannins. Not particularly pristine on the back end, and in need of the imminent racking.
