Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2015-2025, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Mar 2016

Tasted at the Chambolle Amoureuses vertical in London, the 2007 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Amoureuses clearly offers more intensity on the nose compared to the 2006. This is quite tertiary in style, earthy with a hint of singed leather, almost Barolo in style. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin interlaced with red cherry and orange peel, with hints of bitter cherry towards the forward, open-armed finish. Like many 2007s, this just seems to have reached its perfect pitch right now and I would have no hesitation in opening this now and saving other vintages until later. Tasted November 2015.

Darkly spiced but still with a Pinot delicacy. Perfumed red fruit, silky and long. Complex, balanced and silky and so much more to come. It has an internal power which drives it forward but I wouldn't describe it overall as a powerful wine. (JH)

(14% natural alcohol) Medium red. Pungently spicy nose shows a slightly resiny character and substantial oak to go with the raspberry fruit. Sweet and enveloping, with a lovely touch of minerality leavening the wine's fat. Seems very ripe for this cuvee, almost too much of a good thing. Finishes strong but a tad warm, with dusty tannins. This was not the only cellar where I found the 2007 Amoureuses to be a bit extreme, and lacking its usual lift. (I should note, however, that the 2006 Amoureuses also lacked high notes shortly after the bottling but is much finer and more perfumed today.)
